Profile Summary

Alice is a children’s and YA agent at David Higham, a large and well-established literary agency. Her list includes novelists, poets and non-fictioneers, but it’s clear the children’s and YA market that most enthuses her. Because she works with illustrators as well as writers, if you are a writer-illustrator, she might be an ideal agent for you.

Unfortunately, David Higham is not an agency that likes to disclose much about its agents beyond their client list. We’ve scoped out Alice’s client list and conclude that:

  • She works with writers for all ages from picture books to young adults, and would also be able to sell work aimed at educational publishers. She also represents writers who tell historical stories (eg: the discovery of vaccination) in a way designed to appeal to youngsters.
  • She represents a noted radio dramatist, but it’s not clear whether she represents his radio work or only his (relatively limited) non-fiction.
  • Some of her clients have written material with a focus on special needs, so she’d have some understanding of that area.
  • Similarly, she’s worked with graphic novels, though it’s unclear whether that’s a core interest of hers.

Alas, none of that gives much clue as to Alice’s core passions and interests. We have asked for more detail from the agent in question and will publish whatever we have whenever we have it.
