Profile Summary

Anna is the leading figure behind the creation of Curtis Brown Creative, CB’s very own writing school. Because of this involvement, she is no longer accepting new work – her only literary agenting activity these days revolves around a couple of literary estates which she manages. The rest of this profile is therefore mostly for information only, as Anna should not be approached with new submissions.

Anna was born in Cardiff and educated in Manchester. She’s head of contracts for Curtis Brown, negotiating the firm’s ‘boilerplate’ contracts with the major publishers and is involved in overseeing individual deals as needed.

She’s the moving force behind Curtis Brown Creative which is the only writing school to be run by a major literary agency. When the school was created, it came under some fire by people worried that writers might think it was necessary to enroll in the school in order to be taken on as a writer by Curtis Brown. CB, however, was always absolutely clear that the school and the agency would operate independently: you could enroll in classes without seeking representation from the agency and good writers would always be welcomed as agency clients, irrespective of whether they had attended the school. Subsequent experience has shown CB to be as good as its word on both counts, and the school’s alumni now incude a good number of published authors.

Anna is also an author in her own right, and runs a writer’s website at http://www.annadavis.co.uk/. Again, for the sake of clarity, do not send Anna submissions directly as she no longer handles any new clients.
