Profile Summary

Anna has been with Johnson & Alcock since 2001. During that time, she also acted as the secretary of the Association of Author's Agents from 2004 to 2006. While she heads up the J&A children's and YA list (from middle grade and up), Anna also represents clients writing commercial and literary fiction as well as non-fiction writers. Keen to find and nurture fresh literary talent, Anna also participated in the Undiscovered Voices competition as a judge in 2016.

While Johnson & Alcock do not publish individual agent client lists, Anna is an active tweeter. We recommend you read her timeline to see the kinds of stories that interest her. Both in her agency bio and in illuminating her judging style for Undiscovered Voices, Anna has described her love of stories that 'feel really fresh'. If your book has a strong, individual voice and manages to stand out from the crowd with style, structure, or story, Anna might just be the agent for you.

In fiction, Anna is looking for a wide range of manuscripts, from crime/thrillers and psychological suspense to women's and historical fiction. Her love of something 'fresh' is also carried over to her interests in non-fiction. Anna specifically calls out an interest in non-fiction works that tackle their subject matter in an 'inventive' and 'inspiring' way. Subjects that she particularly likes include history, biography, and food. A quick look at her Twitter timeline also shows an interest in British politics.
