Profile Summary

Annabel is head of PFD’s book department as well as being an agent in her own right. Her list is predominantly focused on non-fiction, notably history, military, cookery and memoir. It’s very hard to research that list in detail because the agency only publishes a firm-wide client list which cannot be sorted by agent.

She also reports a growing interest in fiction, including ‘Commercial, literary and crime’. We have not been able to find a more detailed exploration of Annabel’s literary passions, but are seeking further clarification direct from the agency.

An author herself, Annabel has written books on British Military Greats, The Explorer’s Eye (a book about exploration and adventure), and contributed to some books of photography.

Prior to joining PFD, Annabel ran her own agency, and before that she worked as deputy Managing Director of Cassell, probably Britain’s foremost publisher of military history and associated fields.

Recent deals: On the non-fiction side, I have recently sold a new Downton Abbey tie-in book to HarperCollins, two military memoirs to Orion, a modern survival guide to Quercus, a story about the invention of weather forecasts to Chatto, a World War II memoir to Orion, and the second The Fabulous Baker Brothers TV tie-in cookbook to Headline. On the fiction side, Ive recently sold two thriller novels by a debut writer to Michael Joseph.

Please do you research. This involves looking at my client list online to make sure that you think that your book fits my interest, and basic things like spelling my name right! I get a lot of submissions, and our guidelines online state that it can take us up to eight weeks to get back to you, so patience is key! We always respond to submissions, it just may not be immediately! I dont generally think Im right for sci-fi, romance, erotica or fantasy, but if the writing is good Ill take a second look.
