Profile Summary

Becky joined Faber & Faber's rights department in 2005. Since then, she's built a successful career in the publishing industry from working for respected publishers and agencies. From Abner Stein Agency, WME, Fox Morris, and now Johnson and Alcock (after they acquired Fox Morris), Becky has built a loyal client list including poets, novelists, music journalists, playwrights, and even spoken word artists.

As evidenced by her varied list, Becky is looking for a wide variety of manuscripts and authors. She will happily receive submissions of literary and reading group fiction to graphic novels; from , narrative non-fiction and memoir, to popular culture writing on subjects such as music, art, sport, film, and food.

Becky has previously spoken out in favour of smaller agencies. Where a large agency might have enormous departments that focus solely on selling TV and film rights, for instance, smaller agencies provide close, personal relationships with their clients. If you were to have Becky as an agent, she would be the one fighting your corner in every aspect of the publishing process and beyond. But note that this comes with a downside for prospective writers: Becky's list is kept deliberately small so that she has the time to provide her clients with the best possible service. As such, she only takes on writers who she is truly passionate about.

Also note that working with a small agency does not mean you would have to forego worldwide markets. Far from it. For instance, one of Becky's oldest clients, Kate Tempest, released her debut novel The Bricks That Built The Houses in 2016. The novel went on to become a Sunday Times Bestseller and finding a market in the UK, US, Australia, Brazil, and Germany (with rights also sold to the following world markets: Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Sweden and Denmark).
