Profile Summary

Please Note: Ed Victor Ltd. does NOT consider unsolicited submissions.

Charlie Brotherstone joined AM Heath fresh out of education in 2008 before joining Ed Victor. His list is extensive, including fiction writers, chefs, politicians, and scientists. When Charlie was at AM Heath, he was a big proponent of the slush pile, but do note that the Ed Victor Ltd Literary Agency does not accept any unsolicited manuscripts. As such, if you are a new author looking for an agent, you should try other agents instead. Anything that is sent to Charlie or the Ed Victor agency will be deleted without being read.

Charlie's list is diverse, along with his tastes, though we have noted that he represents a large number of cookery books, ranging from chefs, restaurants, and bloggers. When it comes to fiction, he is particularly interested in literary fiction and commercial fiction -- be that crime/thrillers to historical fantasy pieces. He doesn't come across as prescriptive regarding what he will and won't represent as long as the manuscript is well-written and intrigues him. In recent years, he has been enamoured with debut novels that contain a high concept hook, such as M.L. Steadman's The Light Between Oceans and Jessie Burton's The Miniaturist.

On numerous occasions, Charlie has mentioned his distaste for typos and grammatical errors in cover letters. This should be taken into consideration when approaching him for anything, even general inquiries.
