Profile Summary

Christopher Sinclair-Stevenson set up his agency in 1989.  We know very little about the agency as it does not have a website and most of the online references to Christopher’s work as an agent are from the early noughties. According to Wikipedia, the Sinclair-Stevenson agency became part of the Random House Group in 1997 but it is unclear whether Christopher continued to work with his clients under the new parent company.

Our researchers have turned up some nuggets of biographical information. Christopher was born in 1939, and educated at Eton and St. John's, Cambridge. He is a published historian ('Inglorious Rebellion', 'Blood Roya'l and 'That Sweet Enemy') with a particular interest in French history.

Christopher’s career in publishing took off at Hamish Hamilton in 1961 where he became an editor. He later rose to become Managing Director of the company and was known for working closely with his authors.  Outside of agenting, he has been a trustee of Listening Books (the charity which provides quality audiobooks to over 38,000 people in the UK) for over twenty years.

Beyond this, we can tell you almost nothing recent about Christopher or his agency. We haven’t been able to find an email address or any author names, photographs or book details.  We believe that the agency do not represent children’s books but outside of that our genre selections are pure guesstimates.

Given Christopher’s long career history and the lack of recent references to clients or publications we suspect that he is no longer taking on new clients. We are trying to contact Christopher to clarify the situation but in the meantime we would advise Agent Hunter subscribers to submit their manuscripts elsewhere.

Our researchers would be delighted to hear from anyone who can shed any light on this agency and we hope to update this profile soon.  If you have corresponded with Christopher in recent years and are able to provide useful new information please get in touch via our website.
