Profile Summary

Eunice McMullen runs a boutique children's literature agency with a focus on picture books. As such, she has a very small list of clients and rarely takes on new ones. Even some of her more established writers, such as Emma Dodd, found Eunice after securing their first publishing contract. She is very well known in the industry and beloved by her authors.

She does accept email submissions (opening chapters and a synopsis of a children's book or two/three finished picture books), but given the size of her enterprise, she is unlikely to take on new clients from the slushpile.

Her stellar client list includes:

David Wood of Meg and Mog fameAuthor of picture books, children's novels, and YA Angela McAllisterIllustrator Ross CollinsMarie-Louise Fitzpatrick, author of Schools and Libraries Book of the Year 2000, Izzy and the Skunk

Detailed data

Eunice McMullen

Short biography:
I was born and brought up in The Lake District and studied English at Manchester before working as a teacher and librarian in a middle school. My passion for children's books extended out of the classroom to editing a book magazine, radio and TV and numerous book fairs sponsored by publishers. As a result, I was offered the position of Manager of The Puffin Club and Puffin School Book Clubs. I went on to become the first director of The Children's Book Foundation and then Head of Marketing for Macmillan Children's Books. After seven years in publishing I decided I wanted to work more closely with authors and illustrators and joined a major London literary agency before setting up my own company in 1992. Missing my home area I moved back to The Lake District National Park in 2001 where I live with my husband and two border collies. I regularly visit London and New York on business.
