Profile Summary

Felicity trained as a barrister but deserted the law for the literary world immediately upon qualifying. She interned at the (highly literary) Wylie Agency before moving to Curtis Brown, one of the largest British agencies and one with a strong film and TV division.

She now works with Vivienne Schuster, but also has a list in her own right, selling direct in both London and New York and shuttling between the two cities as needed.

She has a strong interest in food and wine and her developing list includes a lot of cookery-themed titles (Pizzeria Bianco, My Kind of Cooking, Student Cookbook, work by the actor Stanley Tucci, and more). She also represents journalists who are turning their hand to book-length non-fiction.

In terms of fiction, Felicity has an interest in commercial women’s fiction: one of her authors, Rosamund Lupton, wrote a million-plus-selling debut, sister, that was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. She also represents, for example, Tamar Cohen whose Mistress’s Revenge reheats some of the themes from Fatal Attraction.

Other names include novelist, journalist and Puitzer Prizewinner, Jenniger Egan; Tom Rob Smith, the multi-million-selling author of Child 44 and The Farm; Candace Bushnell author of Sex And The City ; AD Garrett, the author of forensic-based thrillers; Gabrielle Donnelly, whose Little Women Letters imagines the further lives of Jo March’s descendants. Felicity also handles the Daphne du Maurier estate. Like all agents at Curtis Brown, Felicity should be contacted via Curtis Brown Creative.

Curtis Brown Group
Agent since:
2005
Short biography:

I first trained as a barrister before interning at both the Wylie Agency and Curtis Brown. I officially joined Curtis Brown in 2005 and began my career assisting the wonderful Vivienne Schuster.

My fiction tastes are broad but are unified by my desire to represent unique stories and smart voices. I have represented from the beginning of their careers such esteemed authors as Rosamund Lupton, Renee Knight, Laura Marshall and Tammy Cohen and, alongside my growing list of debuts, am privileged enough to work on the Estate of Daphne du Maurier. I love thrillers, suspense crime, historical and literary fiction. I’m open to futuristic fiction or that which imagines alternative histories. What I want is to feel passionate about the narrative and believe absolutely in the world an author has crafted. I talk in more detail about this here.

My non-fiction is predominantly cookery with writers such as Anna JonesFrances Quinn and Tessa Kiros.  In food writers I want someone who can write beautifully and evocatively about their subject and changes the way I think about my plate.

I have also been on the board for the Women’s Prize for Fiction since 2012 and became Company Secretary in 2016.
