Profile Summary

With a long history on the other side of the fence, Geraldine knows what publishers are looking for. She has worked for Headline and Penguin across both fiction and non-fiction lists. After many years as an editor for large publishing houses, Geraldine decided to become an agent. At first, she served at the Marsh Agency before setting up an independent agency. The agency is small, with only three agents, and is actively looking to build its client list.

Geraldine does not have much in the way of an online presence, so it is difficult to pinpoint her tastes. From the agency's client list, it would seem that Geraldine and co appreciate commercial literary fiction, especially those that provide social commentary alongside a good yarn. She's also up for non-fiction on a range of subjects, but only if you are an expert in your field.

The agency also doubles as an editing service, so make sure you are clear with them whether you are engaging them for editorial services or as agents. Also, it is worth noting that the agency uses a submission form rather than the more standard email with cover letter and manuscript approach.

More info on this agency:
Along with most literary agents: If a book has real value, but needs editing - even heavy editing - we can provide it. When it is ready to be shown to publishers, we can organise and advise on that. If it finds a publisher, we can, like any other agency, negotiate a contract for it. If a book cannot find a regular publisher, we can help you to self publish. Why are we different? If we can share an author's commitment to a book we enjoy the excitement of accompanying them on the whole journey from manuscript to the finished book. That is our job and our pleasure.
