Profile Summary

Rose, owner of FRA (formerly known as Futerman Rose and Associates), has previously landed himself in hot water with both the writing community and the Society of Authors for promoting vanity publishing to writers he whose submissions he has rejected. While this is certainly a mark against him, he has since taken pains to confirm that he has no ties to self-publishing companies. Still, we would suggest you be wary of his murky history (see the 'Interesting Links' section for more information).

The agency was established back in 1984 and was taken over by Rose in 2002 after the death of the agency's founder. Interested in a wide range of work, covering both non-fiction and fiction, Rose also represents script writers. While almost no subject matter is outside Rose's interests when it comes to non-fiction, he does note that he is not interested in educational textbooks. Of particular interest to him are sports, politics, and the entertainment industry. A good number of his clients have been politicians or lawyers in the pre-writing careers.

Some of FRA's authors include:

  • The late Last of the Summer Wine and Wallace & Gromit actor Peter Sallis
  • Former leader of the Conservative party, Iain Duncan Smith
  • Keith Gillespie, previous Manchester United player
  • Playwright, Sue Lenier
