Profile Summary

Hilary Delamere is a partner at The Agency and represents a stellar list of children’s authors and illustrators.  She has been an agent for over twenty years and is one of the top UK agents for children’s titles.  Hilary began her career at Lemon Unna & Durbridge where she handled the Paddington Bear titles and she continues to represent Michael Bond to this day. Before becoming an agent she worked for a number of publishing houses, rising to become Rights Director at Penguin Children’s Books.

Hilary is the main children’s book agent and handles luminaries such as Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman, Raymond Briggs (The Snowman), Joyce Dunbar (Tell me something happy before I go to sleep), Lydia Monks, the late Lara Jones’ ‘Poppy Cat’, and Ted Dewan creator of the ‘Bing Bunny’ TV show.  Recent award winners include Sarah Warburton who won the Dundee Picture book prize with ‘Max and the Won’t go to Bed Show’.

We believe that Hilary will consider all genres of children’s books from pre-school through to young adult.  However, she is a senior agent who already has a well-established, award winning list.  Given her career history and the number of high profile children’s authors she currently represents, we doubt that she is actively building her list.  Submissions will need to be high quality and original.

If you’re planning to contact Hilary look up the Agency’s Children’s Books News and Blog and Hilary’s active twitter feed @hilary_delamere to find out more about her current tastes and preferences.

Please note that Hilary is the only agent at The Agency who deals with books. This agency primarily deal with Directors, composers and writers of film, TV and theatre. Book rights are only handled in association with film and TV deals. The Agency do not represent adult novels and non-fiction so do not submit your manuscript here unless it is aimed at children or young adult.
