Profile Summary

Jeffrey Simmons is very much a part of the old world of publishing. Having been in the industry for over 69 years, he has seen the rise and fall of many great writers, many of whom he has represented. Simmons has had extraordinary success with Hollywood, having sold C M Franzero's 'The Life and Times of Cleopatra' to be made into the iconic film featuring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, as well as handling the work of renowned writers such as Alan Sillitoe and Jackie Collins.

In 2013, his entry in the Guide to Literary Agents says 'This agency seeks to handle good books and promising young writers. My long experience in publishing and as an author and ghostwriter means I can offer an excellent service all around, especially in terms of editorial experience where appropriate.' When looking back over the many changes to the publishing industry since he first started his career, the one thing Jeffrey agrees has not changed is that excellent writing will always find an audience.

Many of Jeffrey's more recent acquisitions and sales have been non-fiction, though he covers both fiction and non-fiction.His fiction interests include literary, crime/thrillers, family sagas, and what he calls 'mainstream'. For non-fiction, he is keen on memoirs and biographies, sport, film/TV, popular culture, politics, true crime, and history. Avoid sending him anything that is very niche.

It does not appear that Jeffrey is actively looking for new clients.
