There is very little about John Havergal and Author Literary Agency in the public domain. They have no website, as far as Agent Hunter can determine, nor does John Havergal have any social media presence.
According to the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook, the agency was founded in 1997 and looks to consist entirely of John Havergal.
The agency purports to deal with book manuscripts as well as scripts, sending through agency pitches to both publishers and film/TV producers. When it comes to books, Havergal is interested in both fiction and non-fiction, from adult to children's markets. He has been noted to have a particular interest in thrillers and graphic novels. For script/media pitches, his preference is defined as 'media edutainment concepts'.
Other than these notes, along with his contact details, not much else is known. Havergal has no reading fee for submissions and takes a 15% cut in UK territories, 20% of overseas and translations deals, and a third of advertising/sales promotion work.
If you are interested in submitting your work to John Havergal at Author Literary Agency, he does ask for a self-addressed return envelope that suggests he prefers submissions in hardcopy rather than via email, despite both a postal and email address available. When submitting, he requests that you send through the first chapter, scene or section (depending on whether your work is book or film/television related), any graphics samples (if any/if applicable), as well as a maximum half-page plot or topic outline.
