Profile Summary

Kerry Glencorse has managed the London office of SLA since 2008. Unsurprisingly, for an agency with offices in Paris and New York, its client list has a strong international flavour.

  • Kerry studied Classics at Oxford and Political Sciences in Paris and began her publishing career at Editions Flammarion in Paris, selling translation rights. She then moved on to the Paris Office of Susanna Lea Associates and latterly David Godwin Associates in London.
  • Unfortunately, the Susanna Lea Agency doesn’t categorise clients by agent, however, luckily for us Kerry has been open about her literary likes and dislikes in past interviews.  She is interested in commercial women’s fiction (ideally high end/ reading group material) and in particular, quality crime writing or thrillers (think ‘Gone Girl’ or ‘Apple Tree Yard’) family drama and romance.  She will consider literary fiction and sci-fi but it must be ‘incredibly imaginative and beautifully written’.  In non-fiction she will consider memoir, humour and popular culture.
  • Clients include: Joanna Bolouri (The List), Louisa Hall (Speak), Andrea Carter and Suellen Dainty and Justin Huggler.
  • Amongst her favourite books are: The Goldfinch(Donna Tartt) Life After Life (Kate Atkinson), Before We Met (Lucie Whitehouse), Me Before You (JoJo Moyes), Wolf Hall (Hilary Mantel), Bel Canto (Ann Patchett) and anything by Sarah Waters.
  • She recommends that all would-be-authors watch Kurt Vonnegut's talk 'On the Shapes of Stories'.
  • Fun fact; Kerry co-wrote an erotic spoof ‘Fifty Shelves of Grey’
  • She is on the PEN Writers in Translation Committee and supports the WoMentoring Project.

And her Cromwell is so fabulous!), I loved One Day and am looking forward to reading David Nicholl's new one Us, I also can't wait to read the new Sarah Waters. I have just finished Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, which is an excellent example of a clever set-up which allows for a wonderful and profound examination of love in many forms, whilst maintaining real tension.
