Kevin Conroy ScottTibor Jones and Associates
Kevin Conroy Scott is the joint Director and co-founder of Tibor Jones and Associates. He has a strong background in publishing having previously worked at A.P. Watt and Conville Walsh. He also works as a journalist and author.
From his online profile, it is clear that Kevin has represented writers who have garnered prestigious literary awards. However, the authors are not named and it is not clear whether they are connected to Tibor Jones.
In 2012, Tibor Jones acquired the Martin Pick Literary Consultancy agency and with it, best-selling historical novelist, Wilbur Smith. Kevin is keen to use digital media to 'reimagine Smith for the 21st century', and Kevin and fellow agent, Laura MacDougall, work jointly on this. Other notable clients include architect, Rem Koolhaus and leading art curator, Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Unfortunately, the agency does not publish an individual agent client list which makes it difficult for a new author to know exactly what Kevin is looking for. They whole agency list is small but quite diverse. It reveals an agency interested in representing historical fiction, contemporary music, architecture, film, journalism, and 21st century politics.
Kevin has a keen interest in film and is the author of 'The Screenwriter's Masterclass' (Faber & Faber). As one of the co-founders of Colombiage, (a festival of contemporary Colombian culture and arts), we also think he would be a good choice of agent for arts related non fiction.
Kevin Conroy Scott co-founded Tibor Jones & Associates with his wife Landa Acevedo-Scott in 2007 after working as a literary agent at AP Watt Ltd and Conville & Walsh Ltd. Kevin is a veteran of the New Line Cinema mail room and his journalism has appeared in The New Statesman, Variety, The Independent, The Bookseller, LA Weekly and Written By Magazine. He is also the author of Screenwriter's Masterclass (Faber & Faber) and the co-founder of Colombiage, Europe's most influential Colombian festival of culture and the arts. His authors have been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, the Guardian First Book Award and the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize, and have won the Commonwealth First Book Award, the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize and the Nestle Prize. In November of 2011 he became Managing Director of the Charles Pick Consultancy Ltd (CPC).
Kevin is interested in literary fiction and serious non-fiction and occasionally takes on genre titles if they are sufficiently surprising. He is now the literary agent of bestselling author, Wilbur Smith, whose 33 novels have sold more than 122 million copies worldwide since 1964. When asked recently about the agency's direction, Conray commented: 'Being small and young, we can react ahead of others. I hope that in five years time we're still going to be innovating and enabling people to tell the stories they care about. There is no point in being blinkered about what's going on, the market's just going to continue to change'.
