Profile Summary

Lisa has over twenty years experience as a literary agent and established the agency Coombs Moylett (now Coombs Moylett Maclean) in 1997. Before joining the publishing industry, Lisa worked in advertising and fashion, working primarily as an agent for photographers and illustrators. She put the business acumen developed in one creative field to another and hasn't looked back since.

Belief in helping writers reach their potential is core to the Coombs Moylett Maclean agency. As such, they will work with authors to provide detailed feedback and even have their own editorial staff on hand to do so. Lisa will accept submissions of fiction or non-fiction. While she does represent her clients interests when it comes to selling film and television rights, she does not take on screenwriters. The agency will manage most international territories themselves, working with partner agencies in the German, Chinese, and Japanese markets.

In particular, Lisa is looking for commercial fiction, including what is often dubbed 'genre fiction', such as crime, thriller, and mystery, as well as historical and women's fiction. Styles of writing that interest Lisa are as varied as the genres she'll look at; from airport-style digestible reads to literary fiction. The agency is also on the lookout for great young adult novels to help build their children's list. Some of her current clients include Catriona McPherson, John Gardner, Patrick Redmond, and Jonathan Gash.

It is also worth noting Lisa's interest in erotic fiction. Along with fellow agent Jamie Maclean, Lisa is the publisher of the niche magazine the Erotic Review. The magazine focuses on erotic fiction as well as covering critical pieces about human sexuality. As such, it would be a safe bet that a well-written manuscript with a few steamy scenes might be just the right fit for Lisa.
