Profile Summary

The Mic Cheetham Associates Ltd agency was founded in 1994. From what information Agent Hunter can gather, the agency consists of only two agents: Mic Cheetham and Simon Kavanagh. The agency does not have a working website (it is currently 'under construction', something it has apparently been saying for a few years now), and there is little information elsewhere.

The last brokered book deal by Mic that made it into The Bookseller is from 2014, when she placed A Very Courageous Decision: The Inside Story of Yes, Minister at Aurum Publishing. Since then, only Simon has popped up in internet chatter. It is unclear whether Mic is still an active agent.

The agency appears to be best known for representing science fiction writers, including previously handling writer Iain M Banks. General and literary fiction are also welcomed, along with some non-fiction (such as the behind the scenes tale of Yes, Minister Mic represented). Rather unhelpfully, it is suggested you acquaint yourself with the agency's current clients before submitting your work. As the website is not active and there is no other location to find the full list of clients, this isn't feasible at the current time. Potentially out of date information suggests writers N. M. Browne, Paul Cornell and China Miéville were at least represented by Mic Cheetham Associates at one time.

The lack of website foreshadows the submissions process as well. Only postal submissions are accepted and must include an SAE, though otherwise the instructions are standard: synopsis, first three chapters, and some biographical details about the author.

Given how little information is available or currently verifiable, it is not recommended you approach Mic. If you do, it might be best to stick to her specialist subject: science fiction.
