Agent Hunter does not recommend you approach Michael Berenti for representation. Unfortunately, there are no hoops to jump through before calling yourself a literary agent, which in the case of Berenti, is a shame. The Michael Berenti Literary Agency was purportedly founded in 2008 by the previously self-published author and investigative journalist, Michael Berenti.

The agency does have a website, but it looks as though it were designed in the late 1990s. There is no client list or any kind of official-sounding 'about us' section, instead focusing solely on submission guidelines (though these look to be suspended currently). We cannot establish whether Berenti has any clients or has brokered any successful deals. Only hardcopy submissions are accepted. 

If you do still wish to try Berenti (when he re-opens submissions), there is little that is off-limits. He is happy to see fiction, non-fiction, and scripts (for television and film). In fiction, areas of interest include thrillers, crime, suspense, literary and commercial fiction, fantasy, drama, and science fiction. Social sciences encompass his non-fiction preferences: history, military, politics, and current affairs, being his top priorities.
