Profile Summary

Natalie joined the D H H Literary Agency in 2013 as both a partner and agent after working in antiquarian bookselling for thirteen years. She has also spent many years as a freelance reader for Film Four as well as being involved with several respected BBC series, such as Bookworm, In Our Time, and Start the Week. Not wanting to give up on her passion for selling rare books, Natalie splits her time between the shop, Natalie Galustian Rare Books, and her work as a literary agent. No stranger to the other side of publishing, Natalie also likes to explore her interests in compiling and editing books, most recently having worked on a poker-themed anthology.

Her interests are wide, including scripts for television, film and theater. Given her time as a script reader, she is excellently placed to pick out new, vibrant voices and work with the producers that turn scripts into reality. In regards to prose, Natalie is looking for both fiction and non-fiction. Literary fiction is her only listed interest on that side of the divide, while her non-fiction preferences are far more varied. She is looking for books on food, music, biographies (and autobiographies) as well as something to make her laugh.

The agency website does not list individual client lists nor does it state any more specific information on what Natalie is looking for in new submissions. However, her preferences for poker and gambling, African, African American and Caribbean literature and history, works by the Beats as well as other avant-garde literature, according to her Rare Books business would suggest any fiction with that flavour would be welcomed. For non-fiction, she has expressed a love of contemporary art books, from illustrations to photography.
