Profile Summary

Rachel Mills’s primary role is handling the foreign rights sales for PFD’s clients world wide – so for example, if another agent at PFD makes a sale to publishers in the UK and the US, Rachel will be seeking to sell the same material to publishers in Europe and beyond. Her experience for the role is beyond question, having been Foreign Rights Manager at Penguin Books and, before that, worked on the foreign rights team at Ebury (part of Random House and another major league publisher.) Her exceptional work as a rights agent was recognised in 2015 when Rachel won The Bookseller Industry Award for Rights Professional of the Year. Following the reward, she was promoted to international business director at PFD.

Rachel doesn’t have a long list of clients in her own right as agent, but she has a particular interest in non-fiction on any topics with real international appeal.

Aside from that, all we can tell you is that she works as a freelance hotel critic with the Hotel Guru website, saying that she vastly prefers “individual and characterful” hotels over soulless business hotels.
