Profile Summary

For the most part, Rebecca takes on already established writers or journalists looking to expand their publications. While she reads submissions she receives, she does not take on many clients without established careers or those who come with personal recommendations.

Rebecca joined David Luxton Associates in 2003, bringing with her experience of working in rights and contracts at Transworld Publishers. At David Luxton, Rebecca continues to specialise in rights and contracts while also cultivating a list of clients as an agent. David Luxton Associates is best known for their popular sports books. They represent both debut and established writers as well as ghost writers and experienced editors.

While she accepts fiction submissions, her primary focus appears to be non-fiction. Her list currently features writers concerned with sports, politics, and memoirs. However, she is actively looking for new authors writing about subjects such as inspirational memoir, nature writing, history, and travel. She loves non-fiction that challenges the reader, forcing them to reflect on their values.

Though she represents few fiction writers, Rebecca is open to receiving novel submissions. She lists some of her favourite authors as Monica Ali, Maeve Binchy, Alice Sebold, Anne Tyler, and Michael Houellebecq. Rebecca is eager to find a female writer whose target audience is older women looking for intelligent reads. An 'ambitious plot' is something Rebecca looks for in a novel, though she doesn't elaborate on what this means to her.

Working in rights, Rebecca is particularly concerned with works that have the potential to be sold in multiple markets across the world. Similarly, she likes novels that have a 'strong sense of the visual', something that often translates well into securing TV and film adaptations.
