Profile Summary

Sarah Williams has been an agent since 2010. Her publishing career began publicity and editorial in Canada (she is from Vancouver). She moved from Ed Victor with Sophie Hicks, when the latter set up her eponymous agency in 2014. Sarah took her clients with her and SHA client base doubled in size when she joined the agency.

She is interested in all genres of fiction but is particularly on the look-out for thrillers and older Young Adult fiction ('We Were Liars' is an example of the kind of YA book that would bowl her over). She is open to non-fiction submissions (in particular food, memoir, travel, current affairs and narrative).

Sophie has an eclectic client list which includes The Times science correspondent Tom Whipple; Twitter phenomenon @Queen_UK; and chef Maunika Gowardhan.

SHA publish a generic client list so we haven't been able to delve too deeply into her literary leanings. However, we do know that she likes literary fiction and commercial page turners. Michael Ondaatje is one of her favourite authors and we think anything visual or concept driven with a postmodern feel is likely to be of interest as she has a PhD in postmodern literature

Outside of the agency, she supports new female writers by working as a mentor for the WoMentoring charity. Sophie also tweets regularly about life and literature @last_worder From her feed we gather that she is a fan of theatre going, tennis, and TV series Mad Men.

We are keen to build on our profile of Sophie and have been in touch with her to ask for more details about her clients. In the meantime, if any of our subscribers are able to fill in some more details we would love to hear from you.
