Profile Summary

Sophie Hicks founded her agency in 2014. Prior to setting up on her own she spent 25 years at Ed Victor Ltd where she was Managing Director. The Sophie Hicks agency doesn't produce a list of clients for each agent but Sophie is one of only two agents at the company and we know that she is primarily interested in taking on authors of adult, teen and children's fiction. She will also consider non-fiction submissions but they must be accessible and original.

Sophie represents a host of high calibre children's writers (many of whom moved with her from Ed Victor) including Ireland's Children's Laureate, Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl); award winning crime writer Anne Cassidy; up and coming author Emerald Fennell (Shiverton Hall was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize); and Sarah Mussi who recently won Lancashire's Book of the Year for her novel 'Riot'. Eoin Colfer once described Sophie as 'A force of nature' and her former boss, Ed Victor, has credited her as having the potential to become 'the greatest children's book agent'. Her adult fiction list features Benedict Jacka (best known for urban fantasy series Alex Verus) and Australian literary fiction author Paddy O'Reilly (The Fine Colour of Rust). She is a member of The Book Society and Women in Publishing. Sophie's twitter stream is regularly updated with news of current clients and book launches. Check out @sophiehicksag Please note the agency don't represent poetry or scripts for theatre, film or television. They are not currently taking on any new illustrated books for children. Our researchers have asked Sophie for more information about her literary tastes and preferences and we look forward to updating this profile in due course. Watch this space!
