Profile Summary

Working at Gregory & Company since 2008, Stephanie does not appear to be an agent, as such. She is the editorial advisor for the company, working closely with authors to bring their manuscript from draft to polished final product. The website suggests that Stephanie does sift through the agency's slushpile, however, so her interests are good to keep in mind when preparing a submission to Gregory & Company.

The agency made its name representing bestselling crime and thriller writers such as Val McDermid, Minette Walters, Elizabeth Fremantle, and Sarah Hilary. In more recent years, they have expanded their repertoire to include general commercial, literary, and historical fiction. There is minimal information available on Stephanie in the public domain, and though she has a Twitter account, she tweets rarely.

If you wish to submit to Gregory & Company, be sure to check their submissions policy thoroughly. There is a very specific list of what they do and do not represent on the website. They will accept crime, thrillers, family sagas, historical fiction, and what they term 'upmarket commercial fiction.' If you send them any material that falls into the 'do not represent' category, your submission will be immediately disposed of with no response.

About the agency:
Gregory & Company Authors' Agents was originally formed as a partnership. Jane Gregory is now the sole owner. We are known as the foremost agents for crime and thrillers although we handle many types of fiction and general non-fiction and our interests are wide-ranging. We see editing as part of the agency's long- term commitment to an author and we pioneered the now popular trend of employing an in-house editor to shape and polish typescripts before sending them to publishers.

Further submission info:
If you would like to submit your work to us, please send us a one-page synopsis (not a glorified jacket blurb) that gives a full explanation of the plot, and the first ten pages (double spaced for ease of reading). Please include a brief letter telling us about yourself, why you have written this book, and about your past work and future writing plans. You can submit via post or email: Mary Jones, Submissions Editor, Gregory & Company Authors' Agents, 3 Barb Mews, London W6 7PA. Or: maryjones@gregoryandcompany.co.uk. (Please put the word SUBMISSION before your book's title in the subject line, so we can distinguish your message from the huge volume of spam that we receive.) We regret that we are unable to return material. It will be recycled. If you would like us to respond by post (a standard letter), please enclose a SAE. If you do not hear from us for 6 weeks you should assume your submission is not suitable for our list. In the event that you do not hear from us, please accept our best wishes for your success in finding suitable representation elsewhere. Please do not send the whole typescript, either by post or by email, unless we have specifically asked for it. Unsolicited typescripts will be recycled. If we are interested in taking your submission further, you will hear from us within 4-6 weeks.
